Internet TV Is News
Internet TV is a pretty new concept and one that is a little underplayed in my humble opinion. With DVR and TiVO being the two major standards for recording television programming, the concept of internet TV seems a little backwards, or is it?
Internet TV is simply TV on the internet. Really it doesn't get any easier to explain than that. Sometimes called "On Demand" or "Catch Up" TV by the sites that promote it, internet TV will have a majority of the programs you have missed available to you on a push to play basis.
Signing up for internet TV service is not even a concern in some cases. Simply run a search engine query for your missed show or for internet streaming video and you should have no problem locating a service. Once you have found a service, look for your show and then click and settle in for the entertainment.
If you experience excessive internet "buffering", that is to say, you get a lot of pauses, there is a chance you will need to upgrade your internet speed. Contacting your internet service provider to up your connection speed should only take a phone call in most cases. Again, wow, isn't that easy?
There are a few desktop applications that will allow you to download your favorite programs. This is great because you can still watch them at your convenience without having to worry about any possible speed issues related to your internet connection. Another plus is simply that you don't have to worry about someone making room on their website and getting rid of or hiding your program before you can get around to watching it.
Screen resolution and PC power are the two main issues to be dealt with. Often times if there is some skip and pauses not associated with buffering, this has to do with the processor speed and the amount of RAM you have on your machine. One alternative to buying a whole new computer is to turn off or close down any background applications you might have running.
Screen resolution is the final kicker or deal breaker on internet TV. Failing to realize that your junky screen might be the cause of the picture not looking very good is kind of like believing that the reason your car isn't running is because it's broken, not because it's out of gas. A poor resolution screen not able to handle a high number of pixels will always look worse than one that is.
Having internet TV available is just another of the nice modern conveniences we all have these days. It's nice to know that if you forgot to set your DVR or refuse to pay for DVR service that you have a good option to go to. It's fast, convenient and well worth anyone's time to stay up on the latest television programming.
