Knife has been an important tool for living since centuries ago. Man can not keep alive in the forest without a knife with him. They have been used for survival, hunting, building shelters, etc since the generations ago until now.

Until around a hundred years ago, people would not go out from their house without a knife in their pocket or other hidden compartment. We see how much they utilize knife in living.

Of course, no knife can be that perfect to fulfill all your needs. But you can sort up things and set standards for what you want a knife to employ. What is important for you may be different from those of others.

Today most people are looking for a knife to serve them when they are away in nature for a few days, or sometimes a few weeks. They need something that is very basic and that will provide them with the safety that it could potentially provide them in case something goes wrong.
If you go for outdoor activities such as mountaineering, camping, hiking, fishing, diving, caving, etc, you should bring a knife with you. But which type of knife to bring?
Now that you know the type of activity you will go for, you should buy knife appropriately. Think of the possible dangerous actions you will need to do in regards to the activity. The knife you buy and bring should meet those needs.
